Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz (1330–1420 AH / 1910–1999) lost his sight as a young man and became Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia. He taught in Riyadh and Makkah, headed the Permanent Committee, and answered questions on Nur ala al-Darb and in print.

Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz (1330–1420 AH / 1910–1999) lost his sight as a young man and became Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia. He taught in Riyadh and Makkah, headed the Permanent Committee, and answered questions on Nur ala al-Darb and in print.

His fiqh is Hanbali with the evidence made plain. His creed is Athari: Kitab al-Tawhid, Wasitiyyah, and the fatāwā on attributes and worship. He encouraged Ibn Uthaymeen and a generation of teachers.

He died in Ta'if in 1999. His fatāwā and lessons remain among the most cited in contemporary Salafi fiqh.
