Hadith

Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj al-Naysaburi (206–261 AH / 821–875) compiled Sahih Muslim, paired with al-Bukhari as the two Sahihs. He travelled for hadith and arranged his collection by complete isnads and chaptered legal and creedal topics.

He was a student of the hadith folk of Khurasan and Iraq. Later Athari teachers use his Sahih beside al-Bukhari for aqeedah chapters on iman, qadar, and the visio of Allah.

Legacy

With al-Bukhari he is the spine of hadith study in Salafi institutes: sound text, connected isnad, and creed taken from what the Prophet ﷺ said.
