About the Shaykh
Abd Allah ibn Ahmad Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi (541–620 AH / 1147–1223) is a leading Hanbali jurist. He wrote al-Mughni, al-Kafi, al-Muqni', and the creed Lum'at al-I'tiqad.
His fiqh gathers the Hanbali school with the evidence. His creed is Athari: affirm the names and attributes, without takyif, tamthil, ta’til, or ta’wil of the Jahmiyyah.
He lived between Palestine and Damascus and is buried on Mount Qasiyun. Later Najdi and contemporary Salafi lessons use Lum'ah and al-Mughni together.
