Muhammad ibn Ali al-Shawkani
Muhammad ibn Ali al-Shawkani (1173–1250 AH / 1759–1834) of Yemen called for fiqh from the evidence and wrote Nayl al-Awtar and Fath al-Qadir. Later Salafi jurists cite him when preferring hadith over later school taqlid.
