Al-Hasan ibn Ali al-Barbahari (d. 329 AH / 941) was a Hanbali imam of Baghdad and the author of Sharh al-Sunnah, a short Athari creed that later Salafi teachers explain often.

The book lists the foundations of the Sunnah in plain points: the Qur’an and Sunnah, the Companions, qadar, and warning against kalam and newly invented ways.

Legacy

A staple Athari primer. Contemporary Salafi lessons on creed often begin with this matn after the three fundamental principles.
