About the Shaykh
Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani (1332–1420 AH / 1914–1999) was born in Albania, raised in Damascus, and died in Jordan. He spent his life grading hadith, editing the Sunan, and calling to act on what is authentic.
Silsilat al-ahadith al-sahihah, al-Da'ifah, Irwa' al-Ghalil, and his comments on fiqh of worship made him the hadith reference of the contemporary Salafi movement — without turning jarh into a party.
He taught in the Islamic University of Madinah for a time, then in Syria and Jordan. Ibn Baz and Ibn Uthaymeen praised his service to the Sunnah while remaining jurists in their own right.
